Elliott - Sequence works well as opening for full length. Sets up the rest of the film to be darker or more thriller like. The best shots were the panning ones in the garden and all of the extreme close ups were good. the Mise en scene was very effective as it was set up to shock the audience at the end of the opening (contrapuntel). The fade to white for the title worked well and all others were straight cuts. Sound used well, classical music was good, all the foleys would sound better if they were a bit quiter or background noise was added. The build up sound of the title was effective. The film was very good overall.
The Target audience appears to be teenagers, although adults can watch it if they want too.
The opening sequence works well which can lead onto the full film because
The camera shots were used well, for example, the pan shot in the garden as he is walking to the shed, its very still and the camera screen does not wobble. There are a variety of shot lengths from close ups to long shots, all used well and effectively.
The main character was dressed in a white suit, which is related to thriller films, and also with the plastic gloves he puts on, suggests that he will do something.
At the start, the music is creepy, which adds to the thriller effect of the film its self.
The target audience appears to be from the age 15 onwards. The opening sequence works really well as it is not giving the full story away as to why this man has captured with women which is allowing us as an audience to already question what is he doing.
The close up's used were effective as they represented his character type and the preciseness of what he is doing.
The use of foley's were effective and also the orchestra added pace and also increased with the shots which added suspense.
Titling used was the highlight of the opening. The way you used the swiping of the snow to represent the titling was very effective.
